When I have a long day at a photo-shoot, I often leave the eye makeup on and re-do the skin half way through the day so the last frame is as good as the first. These are perfect to quickly take the makeup off before I re apply my foundation. This is a luscious, deep black mascara that has great volume and lengthening qualities, and I find that with one coat, lashes are fabulous, with two, it’s wow. Simply wiggle the wand at the lash line and slowly lengthen out along the lashes. Repeat as desired. Long, thick lashes in an instant and you’ve got the London look!

It was a joy to spend the afternoon a month or so ago shooting the S/S 2012 Ferragamo range with their Australian ambassador Erika Heynatz and photographer Katie Kaars.

I love this shot with the gorgeous orange Ferragamo blouse and divine cuff with her flowing hair and glowing skin. It’s definitely one of my favourite shots of Erika.

The makeup low-down is simple:

For the glow, we used MAC face and Body in C5, with NARS Laguna Bronzing Powder and Stila Peony Cream Blush with NARS Copocabana as a highlighter.
On the eyes, I kept it simple with NARS Lola Lola, a soft, shimmering neutral brown, with a touch of Stila Sun at the brow bone and inner corners.

Lashings of Rimmel Extra Wow Mascara.

And my favorite part of the day, introducing Erika to MAC Shy Girl lipstick, a perfect, creamy coral beige. Just divine for that heavenly nude lip we all love.

My iPhone 4S was a saviour at taking loads of photos [...]]]> With so many digital photos taken on our iPhones of ourselves at every given moment, it’s important we don’t miss the fundamentals…. It’s all about the light!!

It was my sister’s wedding recently and it reminded me it’s all about finding your light! My iPhone 4S was a saviour at taking loads of photos fast but the most important thing in looking good (along with fab hair and makeup) is the light… With so much emphasis on what everyone does after taking the photo (Instagram) it’s the light that still makes the biggest difference. Every photo I took I made sure I or my friends were facing the light.

If it’s a daytime event, I find where the light is coming from and face that way, like in the shot above…. this will even out your complexion and avoid harsh shadows on the face.

For evening it’s the same – find a light source that faces you and avoid standing under down lights. They are the most difficult lights to be photographed under and not that great to sit under for dinner either. No one wants dark circles under their eyes whether in shot or not.

While these shots below are not the most glamorous pics of me while shopping, they show the importance of how just finding the light can make a difference…. and how dangerous downlighting can be!

The reason why? It’s one of mine too!

It’s one of those colours that works – a perfect taupe with a silver shimmer that is great with hazel, brown and green eyes. It’s also that “just right” mid-tone that works perfectly with a gentle sweep on the eyelids to the crease to make your eyes glow.

I also love building this colour up with a deeper tone like Stila Espresso or M.A.C Smut at the lash line and outer corner. Add a touch of black kohl pencil to the lash line and you have a perfect smoky eye!

This bronzer works and it is just the right tone with a subtle golden shimmer…perfect for light and medium skin tones.

I often use it to contour the face after foundation and powder, which adds dimension and that all important glow. With a large brush, I gently use the bronzer around the sides of the face and under the cheekbones creating a halo effect of soft bronze. Just what every Bronze Goddess needs!
